Psience is a mystery/scifi web series that follows five first year sorcerers (who call themselves psientists) as they live their everyday lives in the magical community known as The Co-op. Inside this residential enclave which psientists can never leave, new students learn to do magic by telekinetically moving pinwheels; deal with hallucinogenic diseases like Quixote syndrome; and witness the true dangers of psience.
Every year, between 30 to 90 people are approached by strangers who call themselves ambassadors. These ambassadors are the recruiters of the psience community, and it’s their job to find prospective students who are touched by magic. These new candidates come from all over, and they are not restricted by age, race, or gender. Their one commonality is the unconditional law they accept when they choose to become psientists; they must sever all contact with non-psientists, and must remain in the Co-op for the rest of their lives. That is the price of learning magic.
Once these new students arrive in the Co-op, they are separated into different classes, and must begin learning psience from the most mundane activities, like telekinetically moving pinwheels. Gradually they move on to more difficult magical tasks, and eventually they face off against other classes in an elaborate obstacle course. The winners move on to learn the most advanced magic known in the Co-op.
